On October 23, 2024, the Jean Moulin swimming pool in Bezons will host the second edition of the Journée de l'Académie de la Natation, a not-to-be-missed event designed to promote learning to swim and water safety.
This day, organized by our partner the French Swimming Federationwill offer a multitude of activities for young swimmers, their families and supervisors, ranging from refresher sessions to workshops to raise awareness about drowning prevention.
This event is part of the company's "Aquatic Literacy and "J'apprends à nagerinitiatives, designed to give children a positive first experience in the water and enable them to familiarize themselves with the aquatic environment in complete safety. The first event in 2023 attracted 60 children, and this year over 80 are expected to take part in this unique experience. The program includes introductory workshops in first aid, lectures on drowning prevention, and a fun competition, the"Quiz Race", where young participants will not only have to swim, but also answer general knowledge questions about swimming.
Learning to swim with young children relies on an adapted pedagogy, which builds a sense of confidence and security while making the experience fun. The event will showcase innovative teaching methods to help children feel at ease in the water, using play as the main learning tool. Through fun and varied activities, children will learn not only to float and move in the water, but also to understand the basics of water safety. The workshops organized throughout the day are designed to develop aquatic fluency in a progressive manner, respecting the pace of each child.
Play is a key key element of sports educationparticularly suited to teaching young children to swim. By using games such as water courses or fun challengeschildren learn to interact with water in a natural and fun way. This helps them gain confidence and gradually eliminate any fear of water. Cooperative games, such as water relay racesare also used to teach values such as team spirit and solidaritywhile developing essential essential motor skills. The playful approach encourages exploration and curiositywhich are fundamental to children's development.
Supervisors play a crucial role in implementing this pedagogical approach. They must adapt each session to the level of each child, while ensuring a climate of trust and safety. To achieve this, individualized teaching is essential: even within groups, each child must receive individual attention that respects his or her specific rhythm and needs. The Swimming Academy Day is therefore a great opportunity for supervisors to improve their teaching skillslearn about the latest techniques and discover practical practical tools to make swimming lessons even more accessible and enjoyable for youngsters.
