What is "dry drowning"?

It cannot be said that there are symptoms characteristic of dry drowning. However, there are warning signs of drowning:
• A strong cough.
• Difficulty in breathing.
• Lips that turn blue.
• Pale skin.
If you notice that your child is different after swallow water, call for help directly 911. In France, we remind you : 15, 18 or 112.
What to do when you witness a drowning ?
If you see someone drowning, call lifeguards immediately if you are in a supervised area, otherwise, call 911 immediatly.
First aid measures when the person is out of the water:
• Heat it up immediately.
• If she is unconscious, place her in the lateral safety position.
• If she is not breathing,give cardiac massage.
• If the person is a baby, give cardiac massage using both thumbs and the other fingers behind the baby's body. However if you cannot get your fingers around the baby's body use your palm to do so.
