Swimming for regained cardio and improved posture: exercises to do

Shortness of breath? Slumped posture?

Swimming is a valuable ally to regain your breath, strengthen your back, and regain energy on a daily basis. It combines deep breathing, joint mobility, and gentle exercise, all without impact. With a Floating swimsuit, you are perfectly supported to focus on your movements and your breath, even if you lack endurance.

Why is swimming effective for cardio and posture?

  • Strengthening of the cardio-respiratory system: deep aquatic breathing improves oxygenation.
  • Natural posture correction: backstrokes and core exercises strengthen the back.
  • Gentle mobility: water allows stretching and mobilizing joints without pain.
  • Better coordination: the swimming rhythm improves body automatisms.
  • Calming effect: the breathing work associated with water calms the nervous system.

The special "breath and posture" program

Here is a progressive program over 3 weeks with 2 to 3 sessions per week. It is designed to gently accompany you, with simple exercises to perform with the Floating swimsuit.

Week 1: Start calmly

  • 5 min of deep breathing while floating on your back
  • 3 x 1 min of slow swimming (breaststroke or backstroke) + 30 sec of rest
  • 2 min of relaxation lying on your back, eyes closed

Week 2: Posture and core work in water

  • 3 x 1 min of backstroke
  • 2 x 1 min of floating seated position, arms extended to work the abs
  • 3 x 30 sec of dynamic stretches: floating on your back, stretch arms above the head, then to the side
  • 2 lengths of slow controlled breaststroke with stretched posture

Week 3: Endurance and fluidity

  • 3 min of continuous freestyle swimming, moderate pace
  • 3 x 30 sec: deep breathing while leaning against the wall (standing or floating), followed by a backstroke start keeping regular breathing
  • 2 times: chain one length of slow breaststroke immediately followed by one length of back crawl, without pause between the two
  • 3 min of floating relaxation with arms crossed

By working on your breathing and posture in the water, you will not only strengthen your endurance but also relieve your back and regain an upright and relaxed posture. With the Floating swimsuit, you progress safely and with ease.

Swimming, practiced with a Floating swimsuit, offers a true anti-fatigue program. By combining breathing work, back alignment, and gentle mobility, it improves breathing, straightens posture, and releases tension. Thanks to the aquatic benefits, each session becomes a moment of complete well-being, as good for the body as it is for the mind.
