We are honored to have been invited to appear on the prestigious Trophées PME RMC podcast episode 9 of this 2024 season as a French brand, known for our innovations in children's water safety. On October 4, 2023, the Plouf team was invited to the 14th edition of the Trophées PME RMC special Région PACA at the Marseille Chamber of Commerce. Nominated in the "Digital Transformation" category, our little company did its best to shine among the nuggets in the running. Sandy Niddam, our brand manager, took the opportunity to present Plouf to the juries.

Our application was very well received, and the members of the jury and Michel Picot were kind enough to give us their encouragement and enthusiasm.

Innovation for water safety

For more than 20 years now, Plouf has set itself apart in the leisure accessory market thanks to our unique FibreAir technology. Composed of 97% air, it offers incomparable lightness and buoyancy without the need for inflation. This innovation is particularly well-suited to the safety of leisure activities.

Our flagship product, floating swimsuit, allows children to swim and float in complete safety, offering peace of mind to parents and an incomparable swimming experience for little fish in the making. It prevents drowning, helps children learn to swim and combats fear of water in children aged 30 months to 6 years.

On the market since 2001, floating swimsuit has already reassured at least 600,000 parents worldwide. It is recognized by swimming professionals, including the Fédération Française de la Natation and the Académie Française de la Natation, for its ability to help children learn while having fun in a private setting.

The impact of FibreAir is not limited to floating swimsuit. We have also developed the 2-in-1 floating mat , using the same technology to create a little marvel of comfort and relaxation for families. It lets you lie back in comfort anywhere, even on pebbles, and float on the water. These innovations show how innovation can meet and exceed consumer needs, while setting new safety standards.

The entrepreneurial adventure: from vision to reality

The story of Plouf is a true entrepreneurial adventure based on innovation that was truly created by accident! Indeed, FibreAir was the result of a production accident in an Italian factory. A synthetic fiber intended for insulation was supposed to be injected with air. One of the batches ended up with far too much air, so it was unusable as it was, but it floated!

That's how textile specialist Alain Belkadi heard about it. His idea for a child safety jersey came to him after witnessing a family accident that could have gone very badly. Years of research and development went into transforming this fiber into a real safety device. In 2001, floating swimsuit was born.

Renewal arrives with Sandy Niddam relaunching the brand digitally in 2019. The ambition is to become known as an e-commerce. The challenge was immense, as it coincided with the arrival of Covid and containment... Since then, our entire team has been working hard to transform our concept into a thriving e-commerce business. Plouf 's journey has been marked by challenges, but also by significant successes that have consolidated our position in the market.

More innovations to come

FibreAir is a technological innovation that will continue to prove indispensable in the future, as it offers a wide range of possible applications. At Plouf, we are preparing the imminent arrival of the floating swimsuit adult. The women's model should arrive first before the end of the year, followed by the men's model. These new products, which are already in great demand, will relieve swimmers in their efforts and enable everyone to enjoy the benefits of water and physical exercise, whatever their ability.

There's also a model for a floating watchesuit for professional sailors. And other innovations are said to be on the way in the years to come, but shhh... it's still a secret. The Plouf brand is highly seasonal, with summer a very busy time of year, so winter is spent creating new innovations, reinventing and constantly improving.

Thanks to our participation in the Trophées PME RMC de 2023 région PACA, where we were proud to represent the colors of Nice, we had the opportunity to meet other innovative and inspiring companies.
